Protection CN4S

issues

The Regional Action Movement Environment (BIG) is concerned about the future of the Center wooded Nature Four Season of Coteau-du-Lac. Located between Highway 20 and the road 338, the Nature Center Four Seasons is currently one of the few woods in our area, if not only to Coteau-du-Lac, to be accessible to the public and, free. The Center Nature Four Seasons, or CN4S, offers for several years access to a network of approximately 5 kilometers of trails, and in a mature forest of great ecological wealth.

The land where the CN4S is located is part of the Soulanges Canal. Development Priorities include possible establishment of an inter-municipal sports complex and housing for medium and high density. Although no specific project seems to threaten the CN4S for now, MARE is concerned about the lack of a real protection status.

Actions you MARE

The 26 October 2019, Those are 45 people who responded to the call of MARE to participate in cleaning the Woodland Nature Center four seasons at Coteau-du-Lac! We removed the equivalent of 4 Waste trailers of this site!!!

The MARE works with decision-making bodies (City of Coteau-du-Lac, MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges, …) so that the site is protected in perpetuity for any real estate development, as residential and commercial or institutional, and is equipped so as to promote outdoor activities and enhance the biodiversity of this area.

Good news #1 (2020-01-19)

An environmental characterization study is an essential step in this process. The city of Coteau-du-Lac has just confirmed its intention to finance this study in order to protect this forest, one of the last in our region!!!
