Earth day 2023
As part of Earth Day, on Saturday 22 avril 2023, MARE was present in 3 municipalities in the region : Coteau-du-Lac, Rigaud and Ormstown.
Coteau-du-Lac
On a, it seems, experienced record participation on the morning of 22 April in Coteau-du-Lac for waste collection.
In the afternoon, we counted 4 presentation tables of environmental organizations, including that of MARE. Very nice meetings with the citizens present.
A conference ofEarth Day organization was also presented.

In Rigaud : big cleaning challenge !
On Earth Day, the citizens of Rigaud came together to carry out a major clean-up of their city. This activity was organized byRigaud’s Eco-Citizen Squad and the MARE.
The departure took place at the municipal garage where citizens, families and elected officials were able to put on gloves and bibs after stocking up on snacks offered by local grocery stores. Sectors particularly contaminated with waste were assigned to teams throughout the territory of the municipality.
Despite some soggy ditches, the volunteers were determined to collect as much waste as possible ! Cans and bottles were sorted upon collection to enable their recycling.
The generosity of local merchants made it possible to complete this activity with the presentation of numerous participation prizes to the thirty or so participants. ! Great success for this cleaning which will be in its 3rd edition next year.

At Ormstown : Earth Day Forum
At Ormstown, MARE was invited to hold an information table to present our many activities. Around 20 groups were represented at the different tables and the citizens were there. !
Presentations were also made by Claude DeBellefeuille, Federal Member of Parliament for Salaberry-Suroît, Ian Ward des Jardins Glenelm ainsi que Jeff Turner de Clean Mobility at Dunsky Energy + Climate Advisors.
The Ormstown scouts participated in the organization of this event.
It was a great success for this first edition !
