Anima-Jeunes day camp

Awareness of the importance of the environment among young people

During the week of 13 the 17 July 2020, 2 MARE members, animated the specialized camp "Green Squad" with 16 young people 5 at 11 years at the Anima-Jeunes day camp.

The different themes discussed were as follows ;
– The role of natural environments, for insects and wildlife ;
– Nature-based solutions (for example on corn crops in the region) ;
– The edible islet of Coteau-du-Lac and its insect hotel and their edible or medicinal uses ;
– The purpose of ecological corridors for wildlife and obstacles faced by animals ;
– The impact and reduction of plastic waste ;
– The ecological niche of certain animals, like whales and marine mammals in Quebec ;
– Different games on the fauna and flora present in our region and their role.

The MARE is proud to have been able to help educate young people about the importance of the environment while having fun. The activities carried out will allow young people to develop their eco-citizen skills. We are also convinced that environmental education plays a big role in improving collective well-being.
