Good news : Salaberry-de-Valleyfield announces the deployment of a public consultation approach in order to assess the social acceptability of a possible project to set up wind turbines on its territory. A advisory advisory committee will be set up to support the process that will go out until the beginning of autumn 2024.

This committee, in which the pond will participate, will be trained

• of a citizen representative obviously favorable to the establishment of wind turbines,
• of a citizen representative obviously unfavorable to the establishment of wind turbines,
• of a representative of an environmental body (the MARE),
• of a socio -community representative,
• of a socio-economic representative as well as neutral citizens with interest in the subject.

The group will be supported by an external facilitator, EXPERT in citizen.

We hope that this committee will contribute in a concrete way to a real public consultation making it possible to facilitate the energy transition so urgent in these times of climate upheavals while ensuring the best possible protection of natural environments and agricultural land and taking into account social acceptability.

Salaberry-de-Valleyfield consults on wind energy !

the MARE, as a representative of an environmental body, participated since the
spring 2024 to the work ofAdvisory Advisory Committee (composed of 7 citizen) mis en place par la ville de Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.The establishment of this committee was one of the pond requests in this file And we are proud to see that all this is progressing. This approach may, we hope, Serve as an example to follow for other files requiring public consultation in the region.

The City invites its citizens to participate in a survey of perception and opinion concerning the wind energy developed by the Advisory Avisor Committee. Although no specific project for the establishment of wind turbines is currently being studied in the territory, This survey is part of the current public consultation process.

The survey aims to carry out a first data collection concerning the level of interest, The questions and concerns of the population in the face of wind energy. More precisely, He aims at:
1. Give the opportunity to all citizens of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield to express themselves on the subject.
2. Identify the conditions likely to promote, or not, the social acceptability of a possible wind project.

The results will be made public at the start of 2025.

Appui au RVÉQ contre un développement éolien antidémocratique

En appui à nos ami.e.s duRVÉQ (Réseau vigilance énergie Québec), the MARE, comme de nombreux groupes citoyens, organisations, partis politiques, chercheurs, scientifiques, professeurs et auteurs, a cosigné le communiqué de presse “Une levée de boucliers contre le développement éolien antidémocratique”.

Nous y demandons :

1. Un moratoire sur le développement éolien ;
2. Un BAPE générique sur la filière éolienne ;
3. Un vaste débat public sur le développement énergétique du Québec ;
4. Des référendums municipaux comme critère d’acceptabilité sociale ;
5. La propriété publique de l’énergie.

Nous croyons que ces demandes sont parfaitement cohérentes avecle travail que nous avons mené au comité-aviseur de Salaberry-de-Valleyfield on this subject.

Le développement des énergies renouvelable est primordial, mais il doit se faire intelligemment.
